When we were kids, my brother read that Iceland was sinking, and that the resulting rise in sea levels would engulf the East Coast, where we lived. Don't worry, I told him, that won't happen for a million years. Much more recently, a friend told me that her son is learning about global warming in school and is having nightmares about major environmental disasters occurring in his own lifetime. It isn't as easy to be reassuring nowadays. I don't know what to tell such a child except that unless we, each of us, do everything we can to help, his worst nightmare just might come true. This project is my attempt to use art to try to make a difference. Send me a check for $50 and you will receive an original hand-painted postcard by mail. I will donate half the proceeds ($25 per card) to the Conservation International Foundation.

Here’s how it works:

Mail a check for $50 to:
Patricia Fabricant
253 West 72nd Street #401
New York, NY 10023

Please include your mailing address or the address to which I should send the card, and your e-mail address. You will receive your postcard in 1–4 weeks.

PLEASE NOTE:

>> Each card is a signed and numbered original. The images at left are samples of recent cards. The card you receive will not necessarily be one of the images you see on the site nor can you “order” one of them.

>> I will be sending the cards through the mail as part of the project. You should expect that they will be postmarked, and may suffer minor wear and tear. If your card arrives in unacceptable condition, send it back to me and I will mail you a replacement.
